Lee Seung Chul and Core Contents Media have become embroiled in a bitter lawsuit regarding Lee Seung Chul's alleged illegal use and distribution of several of his OSTs without the consent of album production company Core Contents Media for the repackaged version of his 10th album released more than 4 years ago.
Core Contents Media stated, "Lee Seung Chul illegally released and sold his repackaged 10th album without the consent of Core Contents Media, which is the album production company behind Lee Seung Chul's song 'Are You Listening' for the drama 'Garden of Eden' OST and 'No One Else' for the film 'More Than Blue' OST... From December 2009 to August 2013, Lee Seung Chul also disrupted business order by exclusively receiving an adjusted amount of 100 million KRW from distributor CJ E&M."
After a bit of silence, Lee Seung Chul's reps spoke up to strongly deny the allegations and revealed they have counter sued Core Contents Media for defamation.
"We plan to take every legal measure against Core Contents Media's spreading of false accusations and defamation of character," the singer and his lawyer commented.
"There is no truth behind [Lee Seung Chul's] alleged use of his digital singles without notice... Core Contents Media has already allowed for the use of the songs from the 10th album which they received the adjusted payment for from CJ E&M, but yet the fact that they're claiming illegal use of the songs on the repackaged version of the 10th album is suspicious... It is also hard to comprehend why they're making these claims now 4 years and 4 months after the release of the 10th repackaged album in 2009, as if they just became aware of its existence."
[Update] - CCM has now fired back with alleged proof that shows that Lee Seung Chul and his agency Baek Entertainment were the ones that received payment from CJ E&M for the song use on the repackaged version of the album. According to the proof they released, the repackaged album tracks are listed under Baek Entertainment and CJ E&M, while the same tracks in the regular version of the album are listed under Core Contents Media.
CCM commented, "The 10th album (code 177445) and 10th repackaged album (183059) are separate albums as they have separate codes, so even if it's a repackaged album, they must receive permission from the production company."
